Jade & Ian's Unforgettable Wedding – June 28, 2025 – The Grove Hall, Kirkby
If ever there was a song to sum up this wedding, it would be “I Did It My Way” — or, in this case, Jade’s way.
After attended more weddings than I can count, I truly believed I had seen it all. But nothing could have prepared me for the wonderfully unique and joyfully surprising celebration that was Jade and Ian’s wedding day.
The day began with a slight hiccup — Jade’s mum accidentally drove to the wrong location, resulting in a 30-minute delay. As I walked down the aisle to inform the venue staff and reassure Ian that Jade had not left him at the altar, he seemed completely unbothered — as if delays were just part of the plan. His calm demeanor set the tone for what was to be a day full of laughter, surprises, and heartfelt moments. The bridal party entrance was far from traditional — and that’s putting it lightly. From flower men tossing petals and kids strumming guitars, to bridesmaids performing a cheeky fan dance (yes, complete with kisses for the groom), it was a showstopper! The maid of honor even had her own "Madonna moment" before planting a kiss on the groom’s dad. There was no shortage of creativity, humor, and individuality — this wedding was anything but ordinary.
One of the most touching moments of the day came from their sweet daughter, who shared her own interpretation of love based on what she has seen between her mum and dad. It was raw, innocent, and powerful — a reminder of how deeply Jade and Ian love each other and the example they set. I don’t believe there was a dry eye in the room, including mine.
From there, we moved into a lively flag hunt, outdoor games, and some wonderful mingling. Jade and Ian asked for some non-traditional poses for their photos, which captured exactly who they are — fun, authentic, and full of life.
Instead of conventional speeches, they delighted everyone with a video featuring the bridal party answering questions about the couple. It was entertaining, heartfelt, and perfectly them.
Many people have commented on how quiet Ian seems — and always has been. But to me, Ian has the loudest voice in the room — not through words, but through actions. The way he loves, comforts, leads with quiet strength, and cherishes Jade speaks volumes. You can see it in her confidence, and even more clearly in the eyes of their children. There is no greater honor than raising children in a home filled with love, laughter, mutual respect, kindness, and true friendship.
To Ian, Jade, and your beautiful family: I wish you all the happiness in the world. May your love continue to grow and shine brightly, serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration to everyone lucky enough to witness it.
With love and admiration,
Jamie
